Raritan tracks data center assets: News in brief

Raritan keeps tabs on data center assets

Power and infrastructure management provider Raritan Inc। is offering a new intelligent asset management tag and sensors that help data center managers track the location of their IT infrastructure, and tie in to its dcTrack data center infrastructure management (DCIM) सुइते.

Raritan's new Asset Management Tag is the size of a small mailing label and contains a unique ID chip and scannable ID barcode. The tag adheres to a server or other IT device and connects to an Asset Management Sensor attached to a rack rail. It provides the server with a unique ID and tracks its location down to the 1U level in a rack, as it is moved around the data center. The tags and sensors also help administrators with equipment adds, moves, changes, reconfigurations or repairs, using LED lights on each rack to signal different change management processes that need to be taken, the company said. The system integrates with Raritan’s dcTrack, or with third-party platforms, through Simple Network Management Protocol.
